Notre Dame got killed last night against LSU. They have lost their last 9 bowl games. This team constantly has tv and radio coverage, yet they underperform. Are they the Cubs of college football?

notre dame, simply put, is overrated. sure, notre dame used to be a powerhouse, but they haven't done well for many years..

they still get put in bowls that are above their heads, simply because the name Notre Dame brings TV ratings.

this year, they played 7 weak teams and beat them.. (army, navy, air force, ucla, stanford, michigan state, north carolina,

they played 3 fairly good teams and squeeked by them (purdue, georgia tech, penn state,)

and played 3 great teams and got badly thrashed by them all (michigan, southern cal, LSU)

if notre dame was to play an SEC schedule, they'd be 3-9. simply put.

i feel badly for these kids who are going to start thinking they are stars. brady quinn appears good against weak teams. but how will he fair in the NFL? really hard to say

Take it easy on the Cubs, but yes they are overated. They do indeed have great talent and a great hype that surrounds them, but since they aren't in a conference and since they don't play anybody but Ivy League schools all year, yes they are very much overated. They will always have TV and Radio coverage b/c they are Notre Dame. That doesn't bother me as much as not being in a conference does. Almost all BCS teams (with a few exceptions) have to win their conference every year to even be considered as a BCS team. To all the Notre Dame fans and supporters: Get your team in a conference or at least play somebody during the year so that when the BIG game comes you may know what it feels like to play in one for the first time in 25yrs.

Well, you have to go back to the days of Lou Holtz to see when Notre Dame was deserving of all the hype and remember he did not run a clean program but that's a story for another time. Since that time Notre Dame was stilled hyped by the media but did not have the horses to back up all the press reviews and this is still true today. However, I do think Charlie Weiss will turn the program around but they are not an elite team yet.

Yes, but that would be insulting to the Cubs. Brady Quinn is the most overrated passer in college football and is incapable of winning a meaningful game. NBC has the Notre Dame contract sewn up, so they overvalue their "product" while golden-domers are laboring under a will-o-the-wisp delusion that this once-storied football program is still a national power and can compete at the highest level.

I think you're absolutely right. Notre Dame had no business being in any BCS bowl when there are clearly better teams out there. Notre Dame sells tickets, its the only reason they were there, because apparently they werent there to play football. I'm glad LSU punished them.

Are they the Cubs of college football?

No way. The Cubs are likeable. The Domertards are a completely different story.

lmao" i consider you . they have been a hyped up group for some years now because of the liberal media hype. i do no longer see Quinn being an exact draft %. the two he have not confirmed me he can win in the huge video games .yet go away it as much as the media Quinn is a huge QB yet i think of they did no longer supply Russell his due's purely conversing purely how huge he grew to become into no longer how reliable he throw the ball or how pose he grew to become into in the pocket he's the suited QB popping out of the draft if he settle directly to go away which i think of he will dam who does not desire to have this youthful guy .Russell is "new "no longer Quinn or ND

I'm not a huge Dan Wetzel fan, but he had a pretty insightful column on the subject today. I tend to agree, the Irish are overexposed and overrated because of who they are, but just don't have the talent of the elite teams.

I agree with you... last nights game was like watching a train wreck... it was so horrible yet I couldn't look away. I give LSU props. Even if they like using "secret" plays =]
