Are you sure it's dying?

Sorry to hear about your daughter's hamster- it's always so hard to see an animal suffering like that, especially if it's your pet.

If you're sure it's dying, and a vet can't help it, then you could take it to the SPCA or the local animal shelter. Many shelters will euthanize a sick or dying animal for a minimal fee. Several years back, I had to take a pet rat to the shelter as it was dying slowly and painfully- they charged me $15.00 and assured me that the pet would be euthanized gently and humanely.

You can take it to the vet and they will be able to take care of it for you. If you can't afford a vet, you can always use a .22. No, I'm not making a joke here. It's a small caliber and should do the trick. I know it sounds inhumane, but if you know FOR SURE that the poor thing is dying and suffering, it's better that way and will not suffer for any longer than what is already has.
I would then consider a replacement hammy. Take care. :)

That is very sad, i would just have it put down or watever they do to hamsters and it shouln't suffer. You shouldn't let the animal suffer any longer and if i may make a suggestion, if you live in a house and you like the little animals then u can have a cat or a litte dog. Oh and if you live in a apartment then you can secretley have a ca and eventually when you know that it won't run away then you let it outside and if the owner of the apartments asks you about the cat all you have to do is say " No i haven't seen any cats and if there are then they are probably just stray and will be gone soon". Thats wat me and my mother did when we lived in an apartment.

first of all take it to the vet

then pray god so that every thing is all right

even then if it the vet puts up his hand then not to be rude

bring u r daughter an another hamster before the first hamster dies so that she can accept him and love him equally same as she does to the previous one

so that she can forget the previous hamster very easily

Carbon monoxide poisoning. Start your car, stick the hamster's head into the tail pipe for a few minutes. Works for parakeets. You can also freeze them. Not trying to be mean, but I've seen this done and if you don't have the money to go to a vet these are reasonable approaches.

so sad. my step daughter gave me her hamster when she got too involved with school activities.they only live about 4 years, i think. i would take the hamster to the vet and see if they can help him or if necessary, put him to sleep. well wishes to your family and hamster.

take it to your local shelter or humane society, or if you have a regular vet you use, they are common to tumours we can't see, and they generally die off little by little, one day you will get up and it will be deceased. they are only good for 2-3 years usually, clean the cage real good, or buy a new one for her at petsmart, the teddy bear hamsters are the gentlest

I had both my childrens hamsters put to sleep at the vets. They both had tumors growing on them. The cost of having them put to sleep was three times the amount they cost to buy, but i couldn't have killed them myself or allowed them to suffer.

I think your local vet will be able to put him to sleep just as they would for a dog or cat.

So sorry for the little one. It must be hard on her.
