This is an issue my wife and I have been having problems with. She said she wants to be a housewife, been declaring it for years, but has trouble doing what she is supposed to. I am not saying that as a sexist, but all jobs come with requirements and certain duties. But there ARE a few things she has done on her own without my asking that mean the world to me. She likes to take of my boots when I get home from work and then has dinner ready before I even get there. Once every now and then she gives be a back rub and lets me take a nap while caring for our children. However, housewives have much work to do, so when a husband such as myself can lend a hand on even a few minor things, it is a big help to them. Well, those who know how to appreciate small gestures. Basics though are cooking, cleaning, childcaring, and sorting bills for them to be paid by either person. And anything extra she may be able to find or think of to help out her husband while he is at work. Weekends however are a "two way street" for the housework/chores.

Guess you need to watch TV Land to see the housewives of the 50s and early 60s.
They: Made their children's lunches; Had dinner on the table when hubby got home; dressed to attract their husbands; did all the shopping, and paid the bills; kept peace within the family; supported their husband's work and dreams; did 90+ percent of the childcare, and basically all of the cleaning, AND did not have a job outside the home.

A husband who works and makes lots of money so she can do her housework without worrying about whether or not they will have money to pay the bills since she isn't working. (That sounds good to me anyways.)
