Been reading about risks and benefits of water aerobics during pregnancy, but too many different opinions. Tell me your experience or opinion.

I got pregnant in September and my doctor suggested water aerobics for exercise since I wasn't getting enough in. I signed up with my husband and have been enjoying it twice a week ever since. I let the instructor know that I was pregnant and she adjusted a couple of the exercises for me, but other than that it's fine. You should definitely do it. Being in the water feels great, it's the best way to exercise when you're pregnant. You don't even really feel like you're exercising when you're doing it. It's pretty fun.

Well--talk to your doctor to get his/her opinion on your present health--Then ask yourself about your actual state of fitness--if you are in moderate health and have been used to moving around a bit before getting pregnant then maybe you can try out a class and see how it goes--if you were totally not fit before getting pregnant, then I'd say that this is not the time to start a fitness program...Water exercises are ususally realxing adn don't put a strain on the body, so if you are in great shape and your doctor says it's okay--go for it!

I did water aerobics from month 3 to 8 and it felt great!.. Just dont push yourself to hard, and dont do anything that feels uncomfortable.

That is what my doctor suggested to me when I asked him about an aerobics class. It should be fine, just keep your heart rate below 140.

My Dr recommended swimming, water activity while I was pregnant. It is the best form of exercise while pregnant, it works all your muscles without to much strain (I however ended up with preeclampsia and had to discontinue any activity at all)
But if you have no complications...... go for it, especially if you have been doing it prior to getting pregnant!

well with my 1st child I didn't do anything but get fat . . with my second I did aerobics, weight training, cycling, walking right up until his delivery . . I don't see any reason you couldn't as long as your not already having some sort of problem with your pregnancy.

Well, I heard that it is the best way for exercise in pregnancy since you are in the water and you are not straining your joints too much.

Its a really good idea actually coz its low impact. Just let your instructor know that you are pregnant, coz when i told mine, she wouldnt let me do the jumping ones, I had to keep my shoulders underwater so there was no sudden jerkiness.

My doctor told me I could swim up until the last month, but to be sure, ask YOUR doctor what they recommend for YOU.
