My hubby asked for an Xbox 360 game for his birthday but I thought about getting him a gamefly subscription. Any thoughts?

Gamefly I assume works the same as NetFlix or other mail-in movie rentals. Movies are a little different than video games. Video games take more time to enjoy. Since you are billed per month, not by game, you may still find it is less expensive than going out and actually renting the games locally.

A flaw is the mail system used to send and return the game. You will have to wait until they receive the game before they send you another one so you could be looking at a three or four day turnaround depending on where they ship from. Plus if you live in an area with colder weather in the winter, the discs are not protected in anyway and they often arrived cracked, broken, or scratched resulting in another delay. (if you don't believe me put a CD in the freezer for an hour and bend it slightly and see what happens)

The only advantage to it would be to quickly find games that you like or don't like. Usually people will know if they like a game after 30 minutes of playing it, then if you don't like it, you can just send it back right away. But if you come across a game you really like, you may be reluctant to send it back right away, and it eats up your membership and wastes your money.

If your husband is wanting a 360 then he is wanting a "next-gen" system. Gamefly is perfect if he has a 360 or PS3 since he can rent the games. But he obviously wants to get games with better graphics.

I also wanted a 360 for Christmas from my wife but got something else and I'm not too happy about that but I never said anything.

I have found with the XBOX 360, alot of the games are backordered and it takes a while to get them. I have been using it for about 11 months and I have only encountered 1 game that wouldn't work, so it's been good in that sense.
Turn around on getting new games leaves a little to be desired though. if you are really far from their hub, it will take a lot longer to get the games. They do send you out a new game when they post office scans the game you are returning, so that cuts off a little time.
If I had to rate it on a 1-10 scale, I would give it an 8.
