Well, it actually depends on where you live. Your best bet is to go to your local nursery, its ok, when I started I asked alot of questions, and these guys love giving you an answer. Its closing, but you can plant bulbs right now, so long as your ground isnt frozen over. You have until about the end of the month to do so, depending on where you live. But whatever they have at your local nursery is more than suitable in your area. But trust me, just ask them on what would be best in your area.

Wait until planting season and then go to a local gardening store and talk with the store employees. Lots depends on how much sun and shade you have, where you live, condition of your soil, height of flowers you might want, colors you might want. If you want bulbs, or if you want perennials or annuals? Flowering shrubs? Lots of other factors too.

Take a look at some gardening magazines for ideas.

Petunias, impatiens, marigolds ... there are tons to choose from.

Go to www.burpee.com

That's a seed company. Order their catalog.

But, you really asked, "What are some pretty flowers YOU can plant in YOUR yard to make it look better?"

The answer for MY yard is none. . . . it's all gravel.
