It depends who it was from.

It is was brand new, then you'll just need some proof of purchase to claim the warranty from the manufacturer.

If the retailer was offering the warranty themselves, then you'll have to check with them.

Check out the support FAQ on Apple's site:

http://www.apple.com/support/macbook/service/

If the person is a certified Apple reseler, than there is a one year limited warranty on the laptop after purchasing.

Support is through Apple and not the reseller, unless they offer it.

You may be able to purchase Apple Care which gives you a total of (not additional) 3 years.

It means if you develop a problem within 12 months you talk to the person you got it from on ebay. If it is new, then the warranty would be from the manufacturer. Save your purchase info for proof of purchase and proof of when you bought it.

did you buy it from a dealer or private individual, If a dealer you may have rights to get them to send to you proof of purchase and some sort manufactures warranty certificate. If a private sale you probably have no guarantee

Why do you have a laptop? Take up a spelling tutorial of some kind. Hell, send the laptop to me and I'll teach you English.
