It is never ending....lesson planning, grading papers, attending meetings and conferences, supervision duties, chairing committees, keeping in contact with parents, sponsoring student clubs/sports, classroom management, and actually delivering the information to the students, and the list goes on... It is mind-blowing at times.

Teachers have a lot of work to present. To do this they need to study the work and which is the best way to present it to the students. Unfortunately they must do a lot of discipline to keep order because the students do not know how to act. Many students do not have the backing from home to seek education. Then thereis the multitude of work out of the clasroom. There is much more paperwork now than 10 years ago. Teachers have a degree because there is much to learn on how to teach and many subjects to cover. Then they are required to get a Masters because they need to keep abreast of the teaching trends and new things happening in their subjects. They are professionals but are not generally recognized as such.

Teachers, for the most part, spend the majority of their time juggling the expectations of their superiors (principals, the state, superintendent, parents, etc.). Teachers are expected by principals to adhere to the strict guidelines of the state curriculum. There is a rigid schedule of what is to be taught and when it is to be taught. The state expects teachers to teach these skills within a certain period of time, and these skills are to be tested each year (regardless of the amount of time actually needed to teach the skills). Superintendents expect the teachers and principals to make the schools appear to be excelling in every area. And parents want what is best for their children - teachers who teach fun, creative, exciting lessons that engage children. They want their children to be lovingly taught according to their skill level, not what the state says they should be learning that year. So, teachers have to be skilled at trying to meet everyone's needs and wishes while actually doing what they entered the field to do - teach sweet little babies what they need to know to survive in today's world. It's a tough job; give us some credit!

Not raising little heathens in the class room!!! I teach my children right from wrong, and to respect the teachers. A good majority of parents out there do the same, but alas some are just not up to getting their hands dirty. They are to educate and show the children on a small scale how to interact with others.

It should be teaching kids to think and adjust to tasks on their own. Instead most teach what to think and how to conform and fall in line.
