My fiancee and I have had to change our plans quite a bit, as our finances have drastically changed since we originally planned our wedding. She grew up in Brewster, Mass (mid-cape), and we just returned from vacation there. Watching her light up when she spoke of her years living out there, I had the idea of surprising her with a Cape Cod wedding, even though we were planning our wedding for our home in Buffalo. We really have a very small budget, so we may have to scrap the reception, instead pouring the money into the ceremony. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Friends of ours got married in Onset, MA. There is a small cliff area, I believe there was a gazebo also. Then they had the reception at a local inn. I believe the ceremony was virtually free perhaps small fee to the town. Sorry I can't be more helpful but the ceremony was beautiful!!

What about a beach wedding? Very affordable, you could wear island type clothing so you don't have to pay for an expensive dress & tux for the 2 of you. You can rent lawn chairs from companies i'm sure in the area, you'd just have to do some research. Or you could get a wedding planner that lives in Cape Cod who would be willing to work with your budget, they can usually get really good deals as they can usually buy/rent things wholesale. Congratulations!

What about in Falmouth, at Old Silver Beach. There's a hotel there with a nice reception room and of course, rooms to rent for the night right on the private beach. We usually have a brunch there and it's just so nice, even in the winter.

I just googled the site: here it is:

http://seacrest-resort.com/weddings.shtml

if that doesn't work, try
http://seacrest-resort.com

If that doesn't help, try iBtraveling.com and see if there is a private home rental on the Cape you can rent for a week or weekend, have your wedding there. Just a thought.

You're a nice guy and she's very lucky to have such a thoughtful fiancee'

The Cape is nice. I can attest to that!

The problem with your question is you have affordable and wedding in the same sentence, Best of luck with your wedding and remember no matter how well you plan everything out something whether big or small will most likely not go the way that you have it planned!!! Congrats on your special day!
