There's nothing wrong with wanting to draw or play soccer. Don't worry about being a girly-girl. You are a girl regardless of whether or not you draw, kick a ball, or put on makeup and heels. Soccer is a girls sport also. I played soccer at the park and at school for 12 years and never did I have a problem being a girl or excelling academically because of it.
I'm just a little annoyed that some adults in your family are pressuring you to feel that sports make you less of a girl in some way, when in fact they can help make you a stronger, healthier person overall. I suspect anyway that this argument about the soccer is really just part of their concern that you are not focused on your academic life since you are talking about drawing also. Don't feel discouraged also about wanting to draw. You can prove to your family by studying hard at the same time that you are a well-rounded girl who can do whatever she sets her mind to.
My opinion is that you draw and play soccer as much as you can but keep a balance so that you do well in school. Show everyone that you really can have it all if you work at it. They will be surprised, impressed, and proud. More importantly, you will feel really good about yourself and be happy about your choices.

I don't know why they think it's bad to draw, especially if you have a natural talent for it. Maybe they don't think it's good enough to make a living at and want something in mind more along the lines of nursing, business, etc. If you have ANY ability at all you can enhance this by going to art school. There are many avenues in the art field. Animation, drawing for a t.v. show, illustration for books, etc. You could enroll in a class now in your area to see if you CAN develop your talents, then maybe they will be more liberal in your choice of careers choices. Sports will get you nothing unless you are SUPERB in whatever sport you are undertaking and also it is a short lived career so you will still need some sort of education to fall back on when you are too old to play. You may be good or even considered great in soccer now, but there is TONS of people better out there, believe me and only a few will ever turn pro in any sport. Maybe you are good enough to get a scholarship with sports tho and then you can persue art.

DO IT ANYWAY- you probably have a natural talent that needs to be honed.
Still play soccer, but keep a journal and KEEP DRAWING! Find time for both- you don't want to regret it in the long term.

I am a mother of a 20yr old, and I never kept her away from her dreams, or what she wanted to do in life. She loved to draw pictures, because it was handed down to her. I always supported her and I alway gave encouragement to her. Today, she has all kinds of certificates and awards for her art work. I feel it is important to express yourself, and if you love to draw than it should not matter what your family says about it. They cannot to your ability away from you, If they do you will become resentful to your family. you will become very bitter and it will be very hurtful to you. If your family loves you truly, then they should accept you for who you are and includes what you love to do, like art work or kickball. They should support you NO MATTER WHAT...................Good Luck....PS by you drawing pictures is GIRLY GIRLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
