V was played by Hugo Weaving in the film. The character can best be described as a political activist/vigilante who has spent his life dedicated to bringing down the Nazi-like government ruling the UK, in the story.
He is intelligent with many resources but there is also a part of him that is almost unhinged by vengeance and rage at the torture and experimention he endured at one of the government's detention camps. As a result, V can't remember who he was before he was imprisoned nor why was he even detained in the first place.

Anti-american? What rot. V for Vendetta is consistent with a comedian series written by technique of Alan Moore set in a dystopian destiny uk. The hero works to smash the authoritarian government. (in case you think of that variety suits any specific us of a immediately - then be happy to view it as a cautionary tale). Technically that is as anti-American as George Orwell's Nineteen 80-4. i beg you to verify the image novel until now seeing the action picture. It has deeper, richer context than can slot interior the mere medium of action picture (as dedicated because of the fact the translation might have been; it nevertheless has its limits).

He's a masked man... a revolutionary set in a futuristic dictatorship. He reminded me a bit of the Phantom of the Opera. Here's a good link: http://vforvendetta.warnerbros.com/index2.html
