My computer is a couple years old and I was wondering if I should add more memory to it. I have 448 MB of RAM. Is that sufficient for now or should I take it in and have more memory installed in it?

Adding more RAM is the most simple effective way of keeping your system a little more up to date and running with a little more speed.

Your computer is reporting 448 MB of RAM, but you really have 512 MB of RAM. Open your computer and look at your RAM sticks. If you have any available slots you can add more ram. Try to buy RAM that matches your other sticks.

This tool will tell you exactly what RAM is compatible with your system and how many slots are available in your machine overall.

well, depending on what you're using your computer for. but to me that is outdated. if you wanna run games, programs, and be online all at the same time; it wouldnt be enough. I think u should take them out and buy 2 512MB of Ram or just get 1 or 1 1G of ram. they fun pretty cheap now. You could find a 512MB for around 20-30 bucks each (not any speical brand names). but yea, depending on what you're using it for. If you just using it for typing up hw or work and not using it much. that is more than enough for it. but if you wanna do othe cool stuff like video editing and what not then you'll need to upgrade.

One more thing, not all RAM are the same. When you take out your RAM you have to read it and see what kind they are. Since your PC is older it might be a PC100 or PC133. Most people who works at the eletronic place doesnt know this but they act like they know. so dont buy the wrong RAM because they might not fit or if they fit they might not work. So i wish you luck and enjoy

computers are so cheap, you could have a new laptop for 500.00 (Dell, check there web site). That is the one I had before this laptop.
I know that taking it into a shop and having them do anything is expensive. I would check out the price and see if you would be ahead if you got a new computer

i would upgrade to a 1 gb of ram because vista is comeing and why should you buy a whole new laptop when you just have to modify your own. Video, music, and email are getting bigger and you need a bigger ram to make it run good still.
