They are remarkably similar (at least in outward appearence), especially if you compare the two in the books. According to the books Eldest and Eragon, the Ra'zac went around in black cloaks, and could be found riding both horses and flying beasts, not unlike the Nazgul (Ringwraiths) from the Lord of the Rings. However, they are indeed completely different creatures: the Ra'zac being freakish birdlike creatures who ate humans; the Nazgul being kings long dead who spread fear everywhere they go. So who would win?

Wraiths, Ra'zac, Dementors...they're all similar.
I haven't finished Eragon yet, so I can't say too much about the Ra'zac, but I would say the Nazgul would win....the Ra'zac seem more tangible, therefore easier to kill..

The Ringwraiths, of course. They are the original bad guys. All the other characters (from eg. Eragon or Harry Potter) are merely copies.

RingWraiths. They being dead, fear not death. Ra'zac, being alive would fear hurt and death.

A 'undead' creature can not be beat by a simply living creature - it must be 'turned' or somehow the energy source disrupted.

Ringwraiths every time. Besides, JRR Tolkien was a literary master, Eragon is a rip-off. I say go with the original.

It's sure that they are very alike, because j.r.r. tolkien was kind of a genius and every young writer is trying to reach tolkien's greateness, and then he sometimes copy him. There is no doubt the Nazgul shall win .
