what i mean is, on which part of the abdomen is it supposed to end on a girl, above the hip, at the hip, or a bit below the hip.

Depending on your height, it should definitely hit at a certain point of the body.

If you're short, the coat should not me mid-calf, as it will make you look shorter. For a shorter coat, if it hits in the middle of the hip, it's the most flattering fit.

Overall, actually, the best fit for a woman with a longer coat is at the knee or right below the knee.

depends entirely on the coat. I have a black wool pea coat same style as your picture from Eddie Bauer that I purchase years ago and it hits middle of my thigh. Traditional Pea Coats that the armed services where are longer. But I have noticed places like gap and j crew are doing cropped versions that hit right at the waist. Attached is one version from gap I found on their website.

To answer your question though of wear it should hit on you, it is entirely up to you. I have a knee length wool trench, mid calf variety and a variety of shorter ones. It depends entirely what I am wearing. To me the shorter the coat the more casual.
