I doubt it will influence Iran's Government at the moment... We've had Carrier Battle Groups in the Gulf since 1990 and Iran always likes to play quiet little games with us...
I've transitted the Straits of Hormuz 12 times now... sure the Iranians could block it... but oh MY how they would suffer.

I completely agree with Rocketman.
The Iranian people WANT Western influence and the freedoms that come with it.
It's Ahmedinijad who is wanting a Theocracy and limit of freedoms for his people. Ahmedinijad is trying to bring about the end of the world by his own admission. He wants to usher in the time of the Mahdi (Islamic Messiah). This will be just before the End Times judgment.
This guy makes Pat Robertson look like Bill Clinton....

The aftermath of the U.S. invasion of Iraq only strengtened the resolve of Iran to have nuclear weapons. They have now realized that it's better to be prepared than to be defenseless. Who knows, they could be next?. Will they believe any promise from the U.S. not to attack Iran if they abandon their nuclear ambitions?. The Iranians will never abandon their nuclear ambitions unless there is a clear assurance for their security. And it is obvious that the U.S. can't be trusted to give them such assurance.
