I'd guess Mergers and Acquisitions. Without know what job it is, I couldn't guess what sort of experience in that area they might be looking for.

Thanks for the additional information. Given that it's an investment bank, it's certain to be mergers and acquisitions. I'm not in that industry, so I can't tell you what sort of responsibilities an assistant would have relative to M&A. I'd recommend you find some way to network with people in the investment banking industry -- or financial services in general -- to learn more.
