I read this fascinating article in New Scientist magazine that there are more flint knappers alive nowadays than in the stone age.

I am not a knapper but i's have to guess that is because there were only a few thousand people in the caveman days (paleolithic or neolithic) and nowadays there are 6.000.000.000 or so of us. So even if only one in a million did it, there would still be as many today as there were then.
