It shows we are taken. I also believe the the part in wedding ceremonies "it has no beginning, it has no end". It means a life-long committment. It's a reminder of the vows we take in front of God and the promise we made to each other. Sometimes, when things are really bad between the two of us (he once asked me for a divorce even), I glance at my ring and I'm reminded that I made a promise to God and my husband and I will tough it out. Sure it is just a symbol, but I think it's important to wear it. Another poster said something about her husband being in the military. I agree. When my husband was in Iraq, I never took my ring off. It feels like a part of my spouse is always with me. The only time I do now is when I do the dishes or am taking a shower or swimming, because I'm afraid of losing (I almost did once). Other than that, it doesn't come off. My husband never takes his off either.

Oh, I love that past, present and future ring! I think it's beautiful.
But a ring is just a ring, a symbol. Not the actual marriage.

A ring is just part of the promise you make when you get married. Some people don't even wear it cuz it's what's in the marriage that counts: love, trust, support, ect.

The ring I wear on my left ring finger signifies an undying love my husband and I share for each other. It also signifies our union in marriage and the vows we made before God in his Church and that we agree to love and honor each other forsaking all others, till death do us part.

Don't know what you mean by "past, present, future" but to me it is mearly a symbol of my union with my best friend. I mostly ware mine to show that I am taken. And the bling bling is just a little fashion plus!!!!

It is just a symbol but I look at it that it is a part of him that is always with me. My husband is in the military, one day I misplaced my ring and it tore me up because I felt like I didn't have him with me.

It is just a symbol to indicate to other people that I am taken.
The real thing is when my husband does the dishes and the laundry, or makes dinner when I have to work later then him.
