There will be a lag but they will probably adjust the government assistance standards. Just because the minimum wage was raised doesn't mean that it will necessarily bring the poverty stricken out of proverty....more than likely it and increased gas prices will cause inflation, which will make the minimum wage increase null and void for all practical reasons. (Don't get me started debating this issue.)

It depends on what the economy is like where the minimum wage takes affect. If may cause unemployment and make more people require government assistance. It raises nothing except all the prices that will be raised to cover the cost of doing business.

no they will not raise the poverty level- although when bush got in that is what he did- raiseing minimum wagw will only make skilled labor worth less because they won't get compensated for it, and will raise the price of merchadice of retailers which have people working for minimum wage.

I would hope so, too many people are on welfare, our tax dollars can be going to other things. There are jobs out there, people just have to look. We also have to teach our children the importance of education. They won't even know what minimum wage is.
