I live in South Africa. The legal drinking age is 18, but unless it is in major clubs, you will get alcoholic drinks almost anywhere if you are younger!

In the USA it is currently 21. However, it was 18 up until the mid 1980's.
Personally, I believe that if you are old enough to vote and be viewed as an adult by our legal system you should also be able to buy a beer at the corner store. OTOH, it's kind of nice being able to go into a bar without having to deal with a bunch of drunken teenagers.

18 in New Zealand.
I am currently in Sweden...
18 is the legal age to buy alcohol at Supermarkets, but it is 3.5 Beer.. nothing over 4%. It is 20 (I think) for everything else.
Bars here can also choose their age limit (as long as it is over18) and some bars will have an R26 or an R23 for example.
