Tomato juice is correct, but it can stain your skin for a while. Lemon juice and vinegar also work some times.

Heres a home remedy potion:
1 quart 3% Hydrogen Peroxide
1/4 cup Baking Soda
2 tbsp Dish Detergent. The stuff for washing dishes in the sink, not something for dishwashers.
Mix the ingredients in a large bowl, because it will boil up like Vesuvius. Its an oxygen generator. Wash the dog/whatever that has the smell with this while it is still foaming, because it is the oxygen which reacts with the thiols in the skunk stink to neutralize the odor. If it sits around, it will loose it's efficacy because the oxygen boils off. Don't try to store it in an airtight container, because it will blow up. The brew also works for clothes, humans and unlucky cats.
There are some commercial alternates for the same. And they r not even expensive. But the home potion works better than anything.

Approach. It's an odor eliminator spray and it's a miracle worker.
My dog chased down a couple skunks and came into the house and proudly rolled around on my new carpet. My choice was to shoot her or just clean her up.
So I took this approach stuff i use and poured it on her and washed her w/it and it totally removed the skunk odor. I poured it on the carpet and washed the carpet w/it and it eliminated it there too. was like the skunk never existed.
Saved me from buying a new carpet and dog! Give it a shot it's the best!
Good luck!

Try this recipe:
1 quart of hydrogen peroxide
1/4 cup baking soda
2 tbsp dish soap
Mix thoroughly in a large bowl, and watch out because it will foam up quite a bit. Scrub the affected area with this mixture while it's foaming, because that foaming action oxidizes the skunk musk and neutralizes the odors.

Tomato juice is supposed to work. Haven't tried it myself, but that what "they" say.
