I guess I should re-word my question. Replace "is" with "should."

Issym, I AM a member of NORML - I give at least 200 USD per annum. I am also a big letter/op ed writer........

Actually, you are right lefty. I just remembered that myself. People just don't seem to be getting the intent of my question though. It's an "ought," not an "is" questyion folks. I may just delete it in a few.....

Issym, I have in fact gotten letters back from former State Senator Truan. It was a crappy form letter though. Irma Rangel wrote me a more personal one. SHe dies of cancer, so I suppose she thought it an important issue.

Andy T, indeed it IS an unproved theory.
WHile most folkks who do hard drugs like phentanyl, heroin, meth, etc. have used pot. By no means does this indicate that most pot users fo on to other, harder drugs. The Stats, in the recent GSS indicate that most pot smokers DO NOT go on to harder drugs.

Issym, I'm so sorry about that situation. I myself have addictions to Xanax and Vicodin becuase marijuana can't be given me for anxiolytic or analgesic purposes. Best of luck to everyone. I have to run now. Ciao

Johny D. I admit my question was poorly worded. You obviously knew what I meant. You are also an inconsiderate, condescending, paternalistic man. Hey, just my opinion!

Since when did they make drinking and driving legal? lol

Either or, instead of posting this on here were you know not a dang person can really answer this question for you. Start writing your local Representative or join the coalition for making marijuana legal..

EDIT.. Serious Question: Have you received any responses to the letters you have sent?

EDIT AGAIN: I was just looking over Norml site it surprised me a lot of the state laws, but it seems some are more lack then other. Mine isn't one them.

Don't get me wrong I 100% agree with on this. My dad has a 98% diseased heart and a bone and muscle disease. Medical marijuana is not allowed in my state. His doctor has told him time and time again he would give it to him if he could because he thinks he needs it. I guess they would rather have my father doped up on Oxy's and Fetanyl because that's exactly what he is on.

Its a good point, but because it is still classed as an illegal drug, then it falls into a uncontrolled substance, in other words, where as it come from, has it been processed under government safety standards, I think all people have heard of smoking bad ****, and also the government is not making any money on you getting high as they do with alcohol, there is some belief that smoking marijuana will lead to you going on to something far stronger and potentially lethal, but I think this is an un-proved theory.

First off, the law states that marijuana is illegal to posses or use. Alcohol, on the other hand, is legal. If the police were to come into the bar and arrest everyone for "intending" to drive home they would themselves be in violation of the law as it would be a wrongful arrest and worse yet, a thought crime. We have enough laws that cross the line into thought crime territory already, such as the conspiracy to commit laws on the books. I don't personally care if you use pot in your home and are of age to make that decision. I think drug use is a waste of time and money, but that it is also your choice, not mine. One condition on that though, sell or provide drugs to MY children and bad things will happen to you, I promise.

Supposedly, your supposed to take a cab or have a designated driver when leaving a bar but we all know people drive home themselves when they shouldn't. Another one that I never understood, when I lived in New Orleans, I was told the drinking law was 18 years old to buy, 21 to drink. Talk about not making sense!

But you are wrong. Smoking Marijuana any where is against the law.
Going to a bar, drinking then driving home is also illegal.
Do you know that you can drink as little as one beer and get a D.U.I.? You can.
Any time you are pulled over and the officer feels you are under the influence. He can arrest you. That's a fact.

I don't see what the problem is... It's not the intention that you need to punish, it's the act itself. ;) The law already states that driving under influence is illegal. Marijuana is illegal too; I'm pretty comfortable with that law since I oppose both using drugs and driving under influence...

Why would you punish someone that has the intention to go to his car and drive while being under influence? Maybe to be able to prevent accidents more effectively... But how will you prove that someone has *the intention* of drunk-driving?

What I don't agree on is that a police officer can arrest you when he *thinks* you are under influence?

Where I live police officers have breath-analyzers that are quite accurate. They test you on the spot, and the machine doesn't lie.
Also, you can be arrested when you go to your car and ignite the engine while being under influence. It's considered 'driving' your car. But you can't be arrested when you get in your car and go to sleep on the rear seat.

I think we have a good law... :)

Marijuana is illegal because it's easy to grow, it's a weed after all. If it were legal, everyone that wanted it would grow their own & the government wouldn't profit from it. Alcohol however, is a different story.

If burning the American flag is illegal then why don't they make them fire proof?

Is just the government trying to dictate what you can and cannot do. The won't ban drinking cos they would fail and its makes them billions in tax every year.

It's legal to drive after you had a drink in a bar as long as your alcohol content isn't over the legal limit.
