Sadly no. With there huge reported profits they will never feel the attack of the democrat congress. And because many on the left seem to think that the war is all about oil, America will make it through the high taxes that will be set forth by the incoming congress

Yes. If the Democrats seek to penalize the oil companies by imposing taxes or otherwise interfering in their business, capital will move from that sector and/or prices will be raised to account for the extra cost.

Oil profit margins have been consistent with, or even lower han, those of other industries.

if the Democrats seek to wreck this industry we will all suffer.

That's not sure. All I see is the democrats talked in the campaign about impeachment, bringing the troops home yada yada yada. They've already cut down seriously on the rhetoric and again goes to show you that the two party system is broken.Big oil has enough Dems in their pocket too.
They are a cynical bunch, they 'd even try to buy of communists if necessary.

It depends what you mean by "suffer". Unless their lobbyists are able to buy some Democrats too, they might have some corporate welfare cut in that they will have to pay royalties for oil they drill on public land, among other possibilities.

I doubt it since most of them are Multi-nationals and can just move offshore if the Dems threaten them. However, people will probably suffer if they try to raise gas taxes.

No, but maybe they'll have to pay the government what they owe for drilling rights (which they haven't been) and they won't get the subsidies that this administration and the Republican congress has given them.
