For example, we are divided by concepts like "country", "religion", "race", "sexuality" etc. etc. We're all the same fundamentally, so why do we do this to ourselves?

Fear. Humans evolved into tribes, which competed for territory. food etc. This competition has continued as these tribes grew into nation-states. Since there were very few, if any, real differences between neighbors, humans invented some. Being the clever critters we are, we invented the ethnic, cultural and racial divisions which allowed us to kill our brothers and sisters for the sake of territory and power. Maybe one day we will grow up.

The only rationale that i can come up with is historical. People have gathered themselves into enclaves because of cultural similarities and for protection. In ancient times fortified towns and cities were established for mutual protection and for commerce. This is something that has become a habit with humans and can also be seen in the animal kingdom. Fear drive people together---there is safety in numbers. Lack of vision drives them apart.

The humans are confused or like sheep going astray. They reject God as their heavenly father who is waiting for them to return to His kingdom. So you can imagine this confusion causes each to go on separate way. Even the Christians due to different denomination form different grouping but if their faith is for Christ as Lord and Saviour, they will live into eternity under God in God's kingdom.

it's frustrating isn't it??? we live in a sin cursed world. everything is imperfect and tainted. it is our responsibility to do all we can to promote peace, but true peace will never be achieved until Christ comes again. in meantime, we must trust God that he knows what is going on.
