Today's media in North America especially is not necessarily biased as much as it is shallow. What a bunch of blather it churns out. The celebrity crap and idiotic prime time shows are truly dumbing us down. We need to watch less mainstream television and access more information in print media and the internet. And we need to think deeply about what we take in and talk about it and share our ideas with others. There is really very little in the way of discourse and the intelligent sharing of ideas. In my view, people like Howard Stern, Jerry Springer and George W. Bush's speech writers are a stain on democracy and civil society The junk we take in now is superficial in its content and often questionable in its honesty.

Not me, for the simple fact is I really have a low respect and even lower trust for the media. But I can certainly see where they are doing one hell of a job brainwashing the masses. I can tell it when I hear them speak. Those brainwashed sound like drones.

Yes beyond the supposed Liberal bias of shows and the blatantly conservative bias of Fox News, there is always the fact that media are owned by corporations and those corporations always have political agenda. At the least, they sugar coat the truth so they dont offend powerful people.
It's helpful to read news from other countries, they have less of a need for a bias.
