and i blocked them. any idea who its from and why i got it?

welcome to the world of getting spam emails, my dear. :)
one of the many reasons why I don't post my actual email address online anywhere. I have a separate email address for that reason. :)

Well what did the email say? If it was threataning it may have been sent to the wrong address. If it was friendly and the person seemed to know you it probably was someone you know changed their address. If it was a sale with an attachment it may have been a virus. DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHMENT. If it does trouble you send an email back asking who it is and if it continues contact an internet lawer or your mail server

They most likly got a virus that turns their computer into a zombie that sends out spam.
It's hard to answer this question without knowing the content of the email.

Read it. There is no way that reading email on Yahoo can hurt anything as long as attachments are not opened.

Nope, no idea. Just ignore it. You could risk opening it, if your anti-virus has an email-scanner.
