I tend to get songs stuck in my head. Sometimes (too often) they are songs that I would turn off if they came on the radio. It could be the fact that I will usually know two lines of the song if not less why my head insists on repeating it like a broken record, but does finding a song "catchy" mean that deep down (deep, deep, deep down) you actually like it?

catchy does not mean good. catchy can mean annoying. example: that song in the commercial (not sure what corporation its for) that goes like this: woohoowoohoohoo, woo hoo, woo hoo, hoo, woo hoo, woo hoo, woo hoo woo hoo hoo, woo hoo, woo hoo.

thats catchy but it is annoying!

I think that you don't really have to like a song for it to be catchy to you. I also get songs stuck in my head, and they are typically songs that if given my druthers, I would rather not hear the first time, let alone the thousand times they run through my head. I had the intro to "Promiscuous Girl" repeating in my head for ages when it came out, but that song is just kinda ridiculous.

Not at all. I found that (sad to admit) "Smack That" by Akon was actually in my head for the good part of a week...and I HATE that kind of stuff with an extreme passion.

And anyways, most of those songs with those really weak lyrics ("Shake your money maker?"...cringe worthy) have a "catchy" beat, probably the only reason that pop sells better than rock.

Depends on how you choose your music. You choose it for the "catchiness", well, you like it. You choose it for the lyrical value, NO you do not.

And BTW, right now the song stuck in my head is "Spiral" by Godsmack...good lyrics and pretty catchy...

I was just thinking about that last night. I heard some songs on the radio I haven't heard in a while and I remember when they first came on the radio I would always change it because (a)I didn't like the song. and (b) they played it so much I didn't want to hear it. Anyway I found that I knew all the words to these songs I didn't really like that much and I sang them obnoxiously in the car while my brother was driving and I haven't had that much fun in a long time so I guess since they were familiar I liked them and didn't realize it!

To me a catchy tune maybe a song that I just like the beat to cuz the lyrics aren't too great, or what they have to say is good but the beat sux. To me it's a song that you don't really like but there's still something about it that makes you want to listen to it. That's how it was for me and " My humps" To this day I still don't know if I like it or not but when it comes on I will jam!!! lol

It may not be the song persay but there is probly something about it that you like, rather it is the song, or the beat or posibly it's sheer stupidity of the person who wrote it.

Catchy means exactly what it sounds like. It gets caught in your head but that does not mean you like it.

You know that jewelry commercial song? i think they change the name of the jewelry store for different areas, but it goes 'i love her soooo, and she must knoooow, the way THAT I lover her....(jewelry store name) jewelers, a gift that goes straight to the the heart...' blah blah. i hope that doesn't get stuck in your head because it's now in mine and it's ruining my day.
