The answers I'm getting are incredible. We've tried the toys and video both making and watching. Maybe we are just looking for that "extreme" experience that probably doesn't exist.

Think of every act throughout the day as "foreplay."
Most people don't start acting in a very loving way or thinking about what leads up to sex until like right when they are ready to hop into bed.
If the way you say "good morning" or "good bye" and the communications you have throughout the day are very calculatedly thought about as to what kind of reaction are they going to cause in the other person, how will that make them think about me until the next time they see me or hear from me, etc., then you will have tapped into a very productive way to turn up the heat when you choose to.

One way is to have sex in different places, the bedroom can get boring, outside, a friend hous, try a little exhibitionism. For instance my girlfriend and I had sex in a strangers car, the car was unlocked in a garage - it was great.
Roleplaying is also fun, pretend to be a nurse and he is your patient,or him the doctor and you as the patient, dress like french maid, a prostitute - there is lots of possilbities and fantasies you can play out.
Take turns blind folding eaching, you can stimulate while you are blind fold with different foods or objects and you have to guess what they are.
make a video of yourselve having sex then watch it together.
For romance have an evening picnic on beach if there is one near you.
Spend the entire day together nude at home, giving each massage, feeding one another, cuddling.

Any time of the day go by and kiss her, anywhere, go bye and give a little hug and say i love you. do not make a big deal about it, if know one is looking grab her butt or squeeze her breast and say you want her if not now then later, you will have her so ready she will not be able to put the kids to bed soon enough. But do this all the time too it will keep the passion going all the time.

Increase the romance and sexual passion within yourself with the idea that your spouse will feed off of your energy. But, it has to be done withing yourself first.
I think candles, dvds, lingerie only work if you are romantic and have sexual passion anyway. If you need those things, you have to take a look at yourself(s).

Try being a little spontaneous. Pack an overnight bag and surprise your better half with a weekend get away. I agree with the other respondent, make sure to take lingerie, toys, candles, and a camera...Make it a weekend that you both will always remember. Make sure to video tape it to assure of it!!!
