my monitor at work made a sizzling noise after I plugged in from moving it to my new desk and then I heard a pop and then smoke came out of it. The IT guy said they would come out and look at it but I'm thinking that if smoke was coming out of it, something fried on the circuit board and no one can use it again. Al least I don't want to. What do you think?

Yes do not continue to use this monitor. If you do it is a fire hazard. As an IT professional I would bring a replacement with me when someone called and told me such a story.

liquid crystal reveal could have a extra constructive reveal from CRT because it has very small pixels that would alter themselves to purely approximately any colour (relies upon on the image card or the processor photographs in the event that they might help that colour). yet they are not tough and hard.A small bump can injury their pixels. yet CRT's are no longer.they are completely tough and hard and function a bigger life expectancy than liquid crystal reveal's. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it is not reliable in any respect because it consumes bigger electrical energy, Have extra weight, Consumes extra area which isn't reliable. they are additionally no longer reliable for gaming and designing Use as they can't help intense resolutions while liquid crystal reveal's and LED's can.

IT guys are usually just dorks pretending they know something.

First they have to let you know they're an IT guy, and that your opinion is meaningless.

Secondly they will have to take the back off to make it look like they know what they're doing.

Lastly, they will agree with you, and replace the monitor.

Time for a new one. CRT monitors don't heal themselves. It would probably cost more to fix it than replace it.
