I am working on booking a vacation this summer (July/August) and I know nothing about Melbourne. I found the Explorer's Hotel on Spencer Street in Melbourne and it seems to be nicely priced and supposedly in a good area for travellers. Does anyone have any info? Price and location are very important. The purpose of the trip is to see Phantom at the Princess Theatre. I also plan to do some sightseeing.
Thanks!

I live in Melbourne. Spencer st is pretty much in the heart of Melbourne. Its also a good location because you have the huge southern cross railway station rite there & you can walk to the aquarium, casino, & walk along the Yarra river which has good night life. its also about a 5-10 minute drive to st kilda beach or you can catch the tram.
So i guess you can say its as good a place as any in Melbourne!

Oh also July/August will be winter here in case you didnt realise, which on the other hand is good because it will be off peak so that means cheaper accomodation!
Good luck!
