I suppose that depends on your definition of defiance.

If you mean 'how do I make the laws of gravity not apply' then I'm sorry, you can't. The laws of gravity apply always, no matter where you are.

Now, if you mean 'how can I balance the accelerative force of gravity from the earth such that I move upwards away from the surface of the planet' I would have to refer you to the famous Van Halen song, and 'JUMP'.

There is nothing like "defying garvity" Gravity is a force, a giant magnet which is pulling you.
There is something called "escape velocity" at that speed you overcome the gravitational pull. Its about 80KM/ Sec if remember correctly.

Well its all due to the centrifugal force like when centrifugal force exceeds the escape velocity of the earth then you will be afloat like floating as only objects below the speed of the escape velocity can hold on. now if your force is greater than the escape velocity then the gravity cant act on you and as your centrifugal force is greater than the centripetal force the earth Wollah !!!
you are afloat. but when the speed decreases you experience grvity
or another way is using the eqn GMeMo/D^2
where d is distance and Me is Mass of earth and mp is the obj required calculate a pt from the earth or below the earth where it is = 0 (denominator i.e) and find it.

Get a hard on!!

Thats the only way you will sucessfully defy gravity.

you can only defy gravity for short periods of time. But gravity always wins in the end.You have to change the laws of phyics in order to defy gravity.

Gravity is the force that pulls you down towards the larger mass

Sorry to disappoint you, but there is no way to overcome gravity. All bodies of mass have a gravitational pull, no matter how little, or how weak. There are things you can do to fight it, but they are only temporary, and require force to stay aloft (i.e. hot air balloons, airplanes, helicopters, etc.).

Loose all of your mass!
With no mass for gravity to pull on, it will have no effect on you!

Or you can break the laws of physics, but lawyers are expensive for that kind of stuff...

Try jumping out a plane without a chute. I've heard it really works, please try it. :P
