The Big Charter set out the basics for constitutional Monarchy, which many Kings, subsequent to King John, tried to reverse, especially the German Georges. While the UK does not have a written Constitution or Charter, like the US or Canada it does have system of Precedent following rules set out in the Magna Carta and Evolved through the years of Republicanism of the Cromwells and the later more powerfull socialist and capitalist Prime Ministers and the business class of the nineteenth century.
It also serves as a source of tourism to the Runnymede/ Windsor area of England. LOL.
The US Constitution was based more on universal rights of the equality of man and is distinctly Masonic in it's value system.
The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is similar in content but is applied in practise more rigorously except when the "notwithstanding" clause is temporarily invoked, usually to appease the separatists from universality under the law.

It was the document that turned Great Britain from an absolute monarchy, to a limited monarchy. Where instead of having absolute power, the king had only executive powers, while the legislative powers were given to the Parliament.
This document also heavily influenced the U.S.Constitution.
