Looking at today's world, 2 is excessive...so many people jump to have kids when they don't even have their own lives in order. How many people out there are worrying about college savings plans when they aren't fully funding their 401k??? And people wonder why social security is going bankrupt! You need to take care of yourself before bringing more people into the world and screw thier lives up as well.

I ahve 4 of my own and 2 step children. As long as you can support them and give them plenty of time---quality not quantity--then have as many as you would like. My oldest is in the Army, my 2nd is in college studying to become a nurse, 2 are in High School and active in sports with good grades and the youngest are in the 4th and 7th grade. There is not a day goes by that I am not thankful for the blessing these children have been. Each with their individual personalities. Don't get me wrong there have been days when we have struggled but all in all, I wouldn't change it for the world. The more you have the more blessed you are.

Yes, too many. People don't think about the future for their children: where they will live, food, and work. Right now there is not enough of those things for everyone due to overpopulation.
One or two is quite enough.
If they are adopting the children, that's a different story altogether.

On the one hand, I think that IF the couple (and I do mean a committed, married couple) can afford to feed, house, clothe and are for 3 kids; can take care of them emotionally; can provide them with a good start in adult life, then they should have how ever many kids they want.
BUT, I also believe the world is suffering from over population and that it is irresponsible therefore to have more than 2.

I most certainly think that more than 2 is too many. If you really want another, why don't you think of adopting. As far as I've heard it can be just as rewarding, and you provide the kind of home to a child who might not have otherwise been so fortunate.

I think having any is too many since there are so many unwanted children starving to death all over the planet!

As long as the couple is paying and caring for the children themselves (not relying on welfare, govt assistance, etc.) than however many children they want to have is their business and absolutely no one else's.

It is not my place to dictate how many children a family should have.
It is my place to dictate how many children MY family has. My husband and I have chosen 0.
