Thank you for your wonderful question.
If you give it. . .you receive it, but not always :) Some people are grumpy no matter how kind you are.

I don't know about Yahoo but I would assume it is much like life. You generally reap what you sow. Personally I ask very few questions especially when you consider my ask to answer ratio, so I only have any real experience from the answer side.
I try to discern the attitude of the asker and reply in the same light. Humor begets humor, sarcasm begets sarcasm and so on. I try to avoid questions that are just trying to stir up trouble. I am not always successful and have a few violations to prove it.
I guess the bottom line is you pretty much get what you give.
Now IMO you just received a respectful answer. I answered the way I did because I deemed your question to be serious or at least asked seriously. Had you worded it differently I might have responded differently or perhaps chosen not to respond at all.
Does that make any sense?

Respect? I'm just here to ask and answer questions, maybe have a little fun. Is this a popularity contest?

I'm not sure. It is very strange....especially since some of the most respected are the most annoying.
