He will be fired in 2 years. Unfortunately, coaching at UM or OSU means, you have to beat the other and win bowl games. Anything short of that is a dissapointment. I think he bought himself another year or two with an 11-2 season, but like John Cooper, that will not be enough. Cooper got canned for the same reasons and it will be Carr's downfall.

To call for him to retire or be fired is a little harsh I think. Michigan is perenially one of the top two teams in the Big Ten. I think that says a lot for how good he is. And Michigan did have a great season this year although most Michigan fans would have liked for it to have ended better.
What does concern me though is Michigan's offense. Every year it's run and pound it through, run and pound it through. I'd like to see them start throwing some more variations in there like OSU or USC does. They can both pass and run against a team. Michigan is too predictable on offense. They have a great defense, but they are very predictable on offense.
Maybe they should hire the Boise State coach. It's his first year as a head coach and so far he is undefeated. That's awesome for a first year coach.
I'd like to see Lloyd Carr stay as coach (he's good) but they need to get a new offensive coach and a new offensive line coach. That offensive line sucked against USC.

Hey no one dislikes Lloyd Carr more than me, but c'mon, he took a typical UM team and ALMOST had them in the national championship game. And this in a year when his arch-rival, OSU, is a consensus number one.
Give the guy a break. Next year UM will be back to their normal level and THEN you can start the dump Carr campaign. (And maybe he'll take the hint and retire.)

Neither. The guy took UM to an 11-2 season and was just a few votes shy of a rematch with OSU. Give the guy a break. So he hasn't beaten OSU or won the big game. I get that's frustrating. But the guy can obviously recruit and maintain a high level of performance from year to year. It's just a matter of time before they get over that mental hump. Look at Mack Davis. That guy was OU's ***** for years and he was finally able to take it all last year.

Neither...although he hasn't fared well in bowls, he is a good coach in a tough conference.
People have been after him to be fired since they lost to Texas in the Rose Bowl...a game they should have won, and would have without the VY factor.
No, Carr is a good coach.

Almost any other school would love to have his success. Michigan fans, and this is NOT a bad thing, are spoiled and expect more.
Same thing happened while Bob Knight was still at Indiana, my alma mater. He'd get 20+ wins and people would still complain.
So, I feel neither of your options is the correct one.
