Usually the jeweler will set a loose diamond in a basic 14K gold mounting free of charge. It's basically about a $150 - 200.00 value. I am sure that your friend got a great deal in the islands and she'll still have saved quite a bit of money when she has the stone set. My recommendation is to have the stone set in 14K white gold and to be sure the mounting is substantial looking and relatively heavy. Be sure to request a written appraisal of the entire piece of jewelry and keep it in a safe place. I used to work in a jewelry store and our goldsmith mounted many, many loose stones that our customers brought in.

Hi
Yes it is cheaper to buy loose diamond and have it set, just make sure you bring it to a good jeweller. An added bonus is you can pick the ricg you want.

Loose.
3 carat in the Islands... you better get it checked and graded. A nice 3 carat will cost $15,000-$20,000.

adult men are meant to pay no better than they are in a position to locate the money for for an engagement ring. the two-months-salary "rule" grew to become into invented via diamond sellers so as to make money. it isn't any longer a prepare. If he's merely commencing out in his occupation, according to probability has some student very own loan or different debt, and can in uncomplicated terms somewhat locate the money for $4 hundred on your ring, properly, that's what he can locate the money for. in case you pick something extra high priced, according to probability you're able to pay for part of it, or marry somebody richer. For the record, you do sound grasping. could you marry this guy if he could no longer supply you a ring? If the respond isn't any, do him a want and shrink him unfastened.

It depends on the setting. The price of gold has skyrocketed, so if there is a lot of gold in the setting, it will be a higher cost anyway. It also depends on whether you want something unique or mass produced.
