Ok, it's time for a little refresher course on exactly why we Americans occasionally have to fight wars. See if you can tear yourself away from your "reality" TV and Starbucks for a minute, pull your head out of your *** - and LISTEN UP!! You've seen the pictures of Islamic lunitics cheering dead US soldiers and civilians. They also cheered when the World Trade Center was destroyed and that was long before the occupation of their country and toppling of the degenerate Saddam and his regime! And you think Islam is a peaceful religion? Millions of them are plotting as we speak to destroy our country and our way of life any way they can. Some of them are here among us now. They don't want to CONVERT you and don't want to RULE you. You are a vile infestation of Allah's paradise. They don't give a hoot how "progressive" you are, how peace-loving you are, or how much you sympathize with their cause.

They want you dead...and think it's their duty to Allah to do it!

ISLAM IS AN "EXTREME" RELIGION - but...

Hereabouts and all-over the netscape I see folks labelling Islam an EXTREME religion; and I see moderate responses to the effect that Islam has been HIJACKED by extermists. The truth lies somewhere in between the two arguments and usually gets lost in the ensuing discussion, even when it manages to retain civility.

A pure and progressive Islam has NOT been tragically hi-jacked by extremists. Islam is EXTREME!

However, evidence of extremism is also to be found among countless passages in the various translations of the Christian Bible, including the Old Testament (or Jewish Bible), and the Torah/Talmud for all of us to read. The major difference between Islam and the other Abrahamaic religions is The Age of Enlightenment*.

Christians and Jews have endured the difficult but transformative reprogramming from ancient to modern civilization . Their sacred texts, upon an objective examination, would seem to provide the Creator’s sanction for genocide and/or ethnic/religious cleansing, as well as slavery, and other activities that most Western nations have come to see as atrocious.

So, that’s it. I’m certainly not the first to point out that the Islamic world needs to experience an “Enlightenment” - NOT an acceptance of the imposition of Western values, but a thorough cultural revolution that leads their peoples from the dark ages, from their desert of primitive societal taboos, into a modern socio-cultural architecture that is their own, whether or not it embraces the hegemony of the West.

*(The Age of Enlightenment http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_Enlightenment refers to either the eighteenth century in European and American philosophy, or the longer period including the seventeenth century and the Age of Reason.)

This is how Islam has spread in the past. If they have an advantage , they loot and plunder while screaming verses from the Quran justifying their actions. As soon as the chips are down and they start getting whacked, the peace full Muslims who are silent till then, come out of the wood works claiming ,the non Muslims have twisted the real Islam and only a very microscopic baddies are giving Islam a bad name. They remain silent when they are wining in order to benefit from the loot. They have played this double game thought out history and only of late their strategy has been exposed in the west due to much better and faster communications.

My friend I know over 40 Muslims. 40 of them are peaceful law abiding Canadian tax payers. 0 of them are Islamists.

Based on history, what you say about Islam can be applied to Christianity too. New Testament may not be war like at all, but history has had plenty examples of people killing in the name of christianity.

That said, obviously I'm no fan of Islamists. Of course if you actually followed American liberal sites, such as whitehouse.org you'd realise that 0% of American liberals like or support the Islamists. However, they don't categorically put liberal muslims in the same category.

I'm said you get all your info from Fox News and Anne Coulture. If you want to critisize liberals you should actually LISTEN TO WHAT LIBERALS SAY RATHER THAN WHAT CONSERVATIVES CLAIM LIBERALS SAY.

Not many Islam who is extremist...There were little ...I think Islam is a peaceful religion...Islam were assume as not peaceful religion by some sceptics because they just look Islam from outside only..not the whole thing...

What was happened to Islam was little people made a violent and then a whole group of Islam was condemned...it was not unfair..

I don't know many people who say Islam is peaceful. I certainly don't think it's peaceful. I would guess it's about as peaceful as Christianity.

There isn't a single word of your inane rambling that indicates you have an ounce of intellect or for that matter, mental balance in your head. You just sound like a fool.

You are still alive. If you want to know them very well, just go and visit them. Talk with them.

people are too judgemental on the topic of islam and muslims. they are just another another religion like christans and jews and others! there are bad muslims that think they god's people when they go around killing westerners, then there are good muslims that actually want peace. these people want peace, they don't want u dead, they just want u to not misjudge them.

People of all faiths have done evil things. And people of all faiths have done wonderful things too. I think that most muslims are good, and do not advocate violennce. I'd say the same of most (if not alll) religions. Its only a minority of extremists who advocate violence.
