I am a single woman with a dog and live on S.S.I.. Please help me to decide where it would be nice to live. I am very sensitive and don't work. I really am a nice person and basically easy to get along with. I am not looking for a relationship. I like to do volunteer work and go to church. I would prefer volunteering in a food and clothing bank for the needy.

I want to be in an area where the people are generally easy to be around. I love animals and nature. I live on a low income and can only do little work if any. I just am not sure if moving is really the answer but I am truly not happy around this area of Pennsylvania anymore. I make friends easily and love to help those whom are having a tough time of it. Proabably because I always am. I'm just contemplating this but would love some ideas and I don't need any sarcasim I can get that anywhere.

Ok I still haven't gotten a good place to go yet. I don't want to go where the weather is cold or humid. I forgot to say that I suffer with sever arthritis. I know just buying a place here would be smart to my family but than they could still control me. I can't have my grandson over anyway. If I waited for the (DIL) to decide I would not see him till 2014 when he is 18. My life is more important than sitting and worrying about my grandson and my son. He made his bed now he can sleep in it. My Dad told me that when he threw me out at 15 and pregnant.

Find your best place at "Best Places to Live" on CNN.com. You can take the quiz to the right of the page, or scan the chosen top 100 best places to live to the left.
http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bplive/2006/index.html
Based on your comments, my search came up with

P.S. to the above poster, I live in Florida too. It's one of the most expensive states when it comes to home buying. $270k is a lot of money to someone that is retired or works part-time, possibly earning only $35k a year, which is the national average of a TWO-person home. I wouldn't consider Florida. Memphis' avg home cost is $90k.

There are city search sites you can log onto that will take your top 10 criteria of where you want to love, and be able to give you many choices throughout the US. You may use a key phrase in your search engine like, "city search", "best places to live", best places for single women to live", "women friendly cities", or something like that.
I recently moved from South Florida to SC (outside of Hilton Head). I love it here. I have a young son and am a single woman with a dog too. I also am active at my Church and do volunteer work when able to. It's a wonderful place to live and people are so much friendlier. Other citys I looked at were Raleigh NC, Nashville TN, Lexington KY.
Anyway, good luck to you. I hope you find the perfect place for you (and your doggie).

has Duluth, Mn ever crossed your mind? it's not a really small town, but people up here are pretty nice ( i deal with them all, i work at the mall) We have many pharmacies, and in february my store will move out of the mall and we will be hte third 24 hour pharmacy in town. which most people don't thik is important until they need them.
you said you like it outdoors and we have many nature trails that are well kempt. I gre up near Lester park and it was absolutely beautiful and has a fabulous place ot pick berries (i'd show you if you moved up here. lol) and right now i live right next to chester bowl which is also beautiful and is a great place for a bar-b-que.
we have a great bus route, and it's easy to get around the city if you have transportation issues.
ther is tons more great stuff aobut this area, i'm 22 now and i plan on staying here for the rest of my life.

Weston, Florida!! it dwould be the best place because of the size and the security in there. plus is a beautiful place to live!
Florida replaces New York as the third fastest growing state. Weston's past ten-year municipality growth rate reached over 150 %. Weston has proven it can meet these challenges by blending churches, synagogues, recreational parks, businesses and community centers in an environment focusing on and promoting a strong social and economic infrastructure.
Weston Area "Bragging Points":
* Crime rate 1/3rd of Broward's and Palm Beach's
* Close proximity to Tampa, Orlando and Miami via major Interstates, I-75, I-95 and I-595
* Year round tropical climate
* Cultural Events including Celebrity Golf tournament and regional Arts festival
* Local Town Center with hometown shopping, social and cultural events gathering area
* Well planned bike and walking trails providing access to all areas of the city
* Broward county had a greater than Florida per capita income
* Low unemployment rate
* Average price of home sold in 2000, $270,000
* Schools score A's in the state's rating system
* Seven post secondary educational institutions in Broward County

I hope this is useful for you!! :)

small town. the fewer the people, the safer the area will be. generally speaking.... climate is usually a major issue to people, so take that into huge consideration.
smaller towns also offer more affordable living in most cases. there is always places you can volunteer & go to church. having a larger town nearby is always a solution as well. suburbs, baby.
look at the crime rate statistics & safest areas on reports.

Minnesota! It might get a little cold, but its real nice here.
The north suburbs are nice or the South ones too(edina, etc.)
Take a look at all the polls, we are up there in every one.
Plus we have the Mall of America.
