We are thinking of going on a Red Sea cruise and are concerned about the passport controls for Egypt and how this will affect us with having travelled to Israel

it's ok, as long as it is not an Egyptian passport. Israelis themselves enter Egypt

Not a problem at all. I used to live in Israel and worked on the cruise boats for a while. We used to go from Israel to Egypt very often. I never had a hassle. On the other hand, going from Israel to Syria or Lebanon (for example) with an Israeli stamp might be a bit tricky.

Egypt (not belonging to the Middle East) recognized the State of Israel. Therefore there is no travel ban on visitors comming from Israel and have an Israeli stamp in the passport.

I've been told that you will have problems entering any Muslim country if you have it stamped in your passport that you have been to Israel. I have also heard that you can get the Israelis to stamp a separate piece of paper, rather than your passport. Good luck

not a problem at all , you just need a visa to egypt to enter egypt , and no matter if you visited israel ore not ,

there is peace agreement between egypt and israel since 1979, you will be surprised when you know that israelians can enter Sinai ( very near state from israel ) for not more than 24 hours without visa .

so just call the EGYPTIAN embassy in your country and enjoy your trip in the best

Its not a problem with Egypt. Egypt and Israel have a peace agreement. So, don't worry.
Calling Egyptian embassy to confirm this is an advantage.

You can do it - I walked over the Israeli-Egyptian border with an Israeli immigration stamp on a piece of paper! Had no problems!!

With no stamp at least you can return/go to Syria, Lebanon etc

Have fun with the taxi guys at the airport lol :-) enjoy
