purchase from one of the top 3 auto makers. the warranties they offer are generally 36 months 36000 miles but are bumper to bumper meaning everything is covered. the companies that offer the 10 year million mile warranty are actually not that good, you have to read the fine print. those warranties are not bumper to bumper, often have a deductible you have to pay, and can only be fixed at certain places.

Toyota. I have a 03 camry and it has only been in the shop once for a repair. About 3 months ago the ABS light came on. They kept the car for a day and a half because they did not know what the problem was. They had to call their headquarters and fly a tech out to look at it. They finally figured it out and it didnt cost me a penny. Toyota takes good care of their customers and their warranties are great.

Kia or Hundai (sp???)- not Honda

Both are 10 years 100,000 miles! WOW you can't beat that.

Dodge has 7 year 70,000- that is good too!
