How do you go about changing your last name to your mother's maiden name? And what are the pros and cons of the process once it is done?

I changed my last name about 4 years ago to my mom's maiden name. It was actually pretty easy. I just went to my local courthouse got some papers to fill out and saw a judge about it and then it was over and done with. It did cost me about $100 though. I'm glad I did it!

I think it depends on the state, and your age. Minors follow a different process than adults. In NC, you petition the courts for a name change and it can be costly. If you are a minor, you must indicate why you desire the name change. Then there are the additional costs once it's completed....driver's license, bank accounts, bills, and your social security card....good luck!

This must be done legally so that u can change your SS# as well as license information and requires the assistance of an attorney...I have done this a couple of times...piece of cake
