Well technically Filipinos are Asians coz Philippines is part of South-East Asia, but some people classify Filipinos as 'Pacific Islander' since Phil. is located in the Pacific Ocean. So, now people just usually classify Filipinos in one whole group or with Pacific Islanders, not always with common Asians such as Koreans, Japs, Chinese, etc. I know bec. in my school, when they did a poll thingy on everyone's race, they classify 'Filipinos' in one category and the rest are classified as 'Asians', 'Caucasians', etc.

Whatever. All in all, we are all people and I found it ridiculous for schools like mine to classify kids like that.

I think it's because there is controversy about whether Filipinos are considered "Asian" or "Pacific Islander". There are so many mixed views on that subject, that sometimes it ends up in Filipinos being left out or made to feel less then either minority group.
