This girl or woman wanted to know why Bush has not been hung. I wrote that she was probably violating the law by suggestion that Bush be killed. Guess what yahoos? I got a violation notice for offending someone. I do not know who is running this site, but my guess is # 1, They are not that smart, and #2., they are unaware of laws and what they are doing. Anyone else have a similar situation?

YES!!! I got a violation on the same question. Apparently, there are some people out there who are just going through all the answers and if they don't like them, they're reporting them. That way they assure themselves of getting the 10 points if they eliminate everyone else's answers! The ones this happens to are on questions critical of Bush and ones which are critical of Muslims. Its fairly obvious Yahoo isn't taking the time to look at the questions and answers and when someone reports you, they just automatically deduct 12 points from your point total. Its probably done by someone in India in a job which has been outsourced. Wonder if I'll get a violation notice for that comment?

Look, suggesting that anyone should be killed is a very serious matter, and implying that the president of the USA should be hung is a matter which places the speaker under very serious scrutiny by the Secret Service, at the least, and opens up a wide range of serious criminal legal options for the government. Engaging in any dialog about the same, regardless of who started it, places you in the same camp and subject to substantial risk of prosecution and surveillance. Turn the tables: How would you feel if people were suggesting that you should be hung (or killed), even if they thought it was justified? Would you not feel threatened?

It's like your management meeting to discuss whether you should be fired. Even though they aren't saying that they will fire you, their advancement of the merits of firing you is practically a conspiracy against your job. Similarly, advocating the merits of killing a person amounts to a conspiracy to murder. The Secret Service doesn't wait until the weapon is raised and locked onto the President before they neutralize the threat; they act pre-emptively (i.e. before the actual threat gains sufficient power to succeed).
Yahoo obviously wants to discourage her members from violating the law or getting into legal trouble, so count this as a courtesy of Yahoo, and a lesson learned. You should be thanking them, not complaining about the violation.

Anyone who advocates the termination of the President's life is subject to criminal prosecution, after the Secret Service learns the entire extent of any plans or conspiracies surrounding you. Just as jokes about terrorism, or jokes about guns or bombs at the airport both bring arrest and prosecution, so also does this topic and it is best that everyone stay well clear of them; they are very serious matters, indeed.

As long as you are respectful, you have no need to worry about being reported. I know plenty of people who actively answer question and are not reported.

Yahoo answers is a private site and therefore when you joined you agreed to abide by the community guidelines and terms of service, being a private sight they have the right to determine what these are. I am not saying that your answer was wrong what I am saying is that yahoo has the right to decide that by your agreement to their terms. You might have been the victim of trolls and that happens every day. Just move on and don't worry about it. Yes I have been the victim and have even been suspended by a person that said they enjoy reporting people with a lot of points because it makes them mad. Yahoo is aware of the problem as many of us has written to them at abuse@yahoo.com. to let them know, I am sure they are working on a solution but it probably is hard to police this sight as it has grown so much since I joined in January.

I myself do not think anyone has the right to make a statement about hanging anyone!..........I do however believe the rest of what I say below.

I have noticed that Yahoo will give you a violation for the answer......... just not the question..........The violations are sent to yahoo! by undisclosed participants in Answers.........However you can appeal the violation and receive not only an apology but your points returned. Make sure that your appeal is meritted and you plead your case in an appropriate manner................I think Yahoo! Answers has a lot of re-evaluation to do on their community guidelines..........So lets give them the opportunity.

I like you do not agree with the entire system.....They will let people give thumbs down with out it being a violation, it is SPITEFUL when thumbs down on your answer is totally unwarranted. If you can back up your answer with facts and you receive a thumbs down for the truth of your answer, it should be a violation to the voter.

The way violations work here is simple (and worthless): if somebody reports your question or answer, you get a violation notice. Period. There's no review of the content, no examination of the reasons -- you get reported, you get a notice. So don't worry about it too much -- unless you get a ton of violations they don't mean anything anyway.

Next, it is NOT illegal to suggest that the president deserves to be hanged. It *is* illegal to threaten to hang him -- that's very different. And if the person making the suggestion didn't reside in the US, even if they threatened to hang him, it's not illegal for them (it's a US law, not an international one). So...probably a good idea to leave law enforcement to those who actually know the law, and who do that for a living :)

yes dude... all the time. yahoo doesn't look at the minor violations. they just send out an automatic violation email & subtract 10 points if someone chooses to report you. it happens all the time. it doesn't matter why the person reported you. think about it-- how many reports do they get a day? most are probably stupid, but they still send out the violation emails to deter the actual violations. does not work very well, but it is an attempt on such a large scale system here. you must just get used to being reported. sorry.

it isn't violating a law (in america) to say that someone should be hung. that is part of living in america. ok, so it is one of our only freedoms left. as long as it isn't a threat. that is the difference. a threat is a crime. saying that you are going to hang someone is different than saying that they should be hung.

I got a violation notice for "Not a question or answer" when I had, indeed, answered the question, just not in the manner the asker preferred.

There should be more to getting an answer removed then just one person's opinion.

you may, yet what you and your chum could do is be certain WHY they have been given the violations, so which you do not repeat the errors. in case you opt to be attentive to the reason of the violation, submit "Why replaced into this question (answer) a contravention?" and upload the unique digital mail you get carry of so the clientele can see the best context. The experienced clientele right here will clarify it to you.

I just wanted to inform you that all stars are not suns. Sun's are stars but that's only because they are closest to one particular planet. The sun is our closest star.

Just looks like your not the smartest man on Yahoo after all

P.S - I advise that you earn yourself points by choosing your best answer and I think that this answer is probably gonna be the only one so you might as well choose me!
