Republicans have stated that if Democrats try to impeach bush, they would only be impeaching him because of the Republicans impeaching Clinton.

So I'm wondering, Where in the constitution does it say that impeachment is a political tool used for getting back at your croonies? This seems to be a republican definition, certainly not democratic.
My understanding is that if the president is suspected of High Crimes, you will have an impeachment hearing to see if he is guilty. If he is found guilty, you remove him/her from office.

And YES, whether you hide from it or not, there is evidence that suggests Bush should be impeached. Before you republicans post the usual "There's no evidence" Read the overwhelming evidence at the following link.

No, it was not. It only takes a simple majority in the House to impeach a federal officer, but it takes 2/3 majority in the Senate to remove that person from office. It was set up this way to make sure it was NOT political. So far, out of 17 people that have been impeached, only 7 have been removed from office.

I believe that the impeachment should be used much more frequently. This is how we get rid of politicians and judges who violate their oath of office, make outrageous rulings, or commit acts of moral turpitude.

In the 1960's, Earl Warren, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (Earl Warren and the Supremes) was the subject of an impeachment effort. He was never impeached, but he did eventually step down. The Warren Court is responsible for some of the most blatantly unconstitutional rulings ever handed down by the Court.

I think that Clinton should have been impeached for much more serious crimes than he was. I am pretty sure that the reason he wasn't, is that he had over 900 FBI files in the White House (that in itself is over 900 felonies) that we was using to blackmail senators and representatives.

Without impeachment, these people would have immunity while in office.

In my view, it was NOT included to be used to "GET" someone or "GET" someone back for an offense either real or imagined. It was designed to protect the body politic from intentionally dishonest and corrupt leaders. Take from that what you will.
