I've asked twice now and they wouldn't post it so I'm gonna attempt to ask again-

What part of "My daughter is disabled" makes a person think I mean developmentally?

You have asked an open ended question. Just how is she disabled?

Interesting question. I don't know why develpomental disability is the first thing that comes to mind. Maybe it says something about the people who think that. Or, if your daughter is present when you tell people that, perhaps she doesn't look physically disabled, so people may think by default that she has a developmental disability. Just speculating, though. Who really knows?

Unfortunately, there are so many people out there that are trying to (or should I say already have) put their children on what they commonly call "Crazy Checks" saying they are mentally challenged (I still do not understand how they can tell a newborn baby is mentally challenged) so they can receive SSI checks on them. I have seen a woman that has 5 children and they all draw this type of check. There is nothing wrong with them except they have been left to raise themselves and are totally uncontrollable because their mother is out trying to make more children with any man she can.

This is the unfortunate thing that causes your daughter who is physically disabled instead of mentally challenged to be thought of that way. There are too many that claim to be mentally challenged and people tend to A-S-S-U-M-E things. Trust me your daughter with whatever physical disability she may have....is totally more worthy of the word "disabled" which means can not function in some way.....doesn't mean mentally challenged at all, than those people that put their children with that term to draw money.

Sorry for rambling on because those people make me soooooooooo angry it isnt funny.

my daughter is developmentally disabled. But what difference does it make? How boring would this world be if everyone was the same. In Jackie's case, she was born in a drug and alcohol teratment center. Is it her fault her mother drank and used while she was pregnant? Let it go, hon... All of us are equal in God's eyes, even that dickwad, until judgement day.

Some people are uneducated or uninformed on this topic. There's many forms of disabled. I know the difference because I work with individuals with disablities. Physical, mental, etc.

You really shouldn't let people on here get to you like that. If they say stuff like that, then they are the mentally disabled ones. Ignore them.

I think George has it right. "Disabled" can mean a lot of things, it does not automatically mean there is something wrong with the person's brain!

Anything that comes from Alotta F is BS. Don't worry, nobody believes it. Hope you and your daughter stay well!
