DVI (Digital Video Interface) provides much more bandwidth than does a standard VGA (Video Graphics Array) cable does. Having an increased bandwidth will increase the response time and therefore the quality of the graphics. I use a 30" Dell HDCP (High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection) Monitor that requires the use of a Dual-Link DVI Connection. If you have a DVI capable video card and monitor always use the DVI cable. At the office that I work at most of the computers are hooked up using VGA cables because they don't need to have the added cost of DVI graphics. However, if you watch many movies, play games, or do any graphics intensive work, then you will see a definite improvement in the quality of the image when you use DVI.

Good luck with your selection!

P.S. Newegg has great prices on some pretty decent cables.

While both are useful when connecting monitors DVI has a better picture. With VGA the signal sent to the monitor is changed from digital to analog which often degrades the picture. DVI keeps the image digital therefore preserving the quality of the picture.

Hope that helps

If you have a dvi & vga compatible card & the monitor use the DVI.Good results. If it doesn't work than buy the MSI multimedia 7300 GT graphic card.It is affordable.
