You may have to be a member of the local administrators group on your computer.

When you rejoin the domain, a new profile will be created normally it will be username.domain1...2...or 3 depending on the number of times you have rejoined.

Your current profile will remain, you will just have to copy shortcuts favorites and documents over.

If you try to copy ntuser.dat you will get an error. This file is locked for the profile you logon with. Typically you have to reboot and logon as a local admin to copy profiles.

Your profile resides in c:\documents and settings

Do not Delete the Default User profile. You will not be able to logon if a profile has not been created for you.

Also keep in mind that your administrator may have set up roaming profiles. If that's the case, your profile path is determined by your user account.
