Adoption agencies can sell babies. Why can't I?

So we'd have a baby section in Wal-Mart and Target, where prospective parents could go in, check the babies' heads for softness, and choose one that seems ripe?

I'm strongly against the sale of babies because they're people, too. We know from history in the United States that treating people like they're property is a bad idea.
