There is nothing wrong with having a baby shower before you leave. Those people who love you in Chicago want to share in the joy of your new baby....this is the perfect way for them to do it!! As far as neutral colors....those greens and yellows and whites are beautfiul on either a boy or a girl, so what does it matter?

When I took a job transfer during my first pregnancy....my coworkers gave me a going away baby shower and I was only five months along. They wanted to express their love and good wishes. It was a great time....and I wasn't so far along that I didn't enjoy the festivities.

Enjoy the shower......and tell your husband to think about getting a diaper cake for your centerpiece. They are beautfiul and a much more unique item than simply flowers!!

good luck to you and your new family....and I hope you like Texas!!

We moved to where we had no friends and relatives and when I got preggars, so we didn't have a baby shower for my first pregnancy. Instead, we sent out fancy baby announcements in my 7th month of pregnancy (after we moved) saying "We're having a baby boy!" and we listed where the baby gift registry was (like Baby's R Us) and we ended up receiving checks and gift cards and gifts in the mail.
Usually the baby shower is in the 3rd trimester like the 7th month of pregnancy-like what most of my friends and relatives had.
How about having a going away party instead of having a baby shower? And then you can send out baby announcements when you move like what we did? Just a suggestion.

Normally, people usually wait until about 1 1/2 months before the due date. However, considering your situation, I'm sure everyone would totally understand and be ok with it. Especially since they will get to celebrate with you before you move away. So yes, since you are moving I would definitely say it would be ok to have your shower a bit earlier. Congrats and good luck with everything!

sure it is OK. a baby shower is a way for you and your friend and family to come together and be happy about a new baby. just try to have a lot of fun with it. i know that you can go on line and do a baby shower registry, that way people will know what you need and want for the baby. it is very helpful if you have friends that have not had baby before. Well i hope you have a lot of fun at your baby shower.

I guess its ok to have a baby shower. The only thing is, something could still happen, but its not something to worry about since you are aleady pretty far along.

I don't see why not if it is after 14 weeks and you know that everything is OK. It might be nice to know what your having first, but not a must. I hope everything goes well and congrats on your baby!

why not? your going to be leaving and its a lot easier to have and early baby shower while you still around than to wait and try to have all those people fly to you.

The only bad thing is, you don't know what you're having, so everything will have to be neutral colors
