Yes, this is a tough one. I guess personally, I've gotten stronger through trials just like that. They hurt to go through, but after a while, they barely bother you as you realize they come from shallow and ignorant people.

Many people fear things that are different. They don't know how to handle it so they just criticise and discriminate against it.

I have kept a journal many years and have found comfort in writing. I have also prayed during these tough times for strength and the forsight to look beyond the ignorance. Unfortunately you will waste your time trying to change people and thier opininions. Instead, give that time to yourself to build your confidence so that these situations don't get you down.

I sought my College degree, went after competitive sports, worked on my music, etc. to help build the confidence that I now have. Again, getting through these tough times also helped. Whatever you do, never lower yourslef to thier standard of ignorance by addressing it. Simply walk away and find different people to spend time with. There are others who will really appreciate you and what you have to offer. Ultimately you can walk away knowing you were the bigger person.

Stay strong and believe in yourself. In the end, you only have yourself anyway and these dumb people will be just a tiny, useless percentage of a life well lived.

good question, i find that positive thinking helps. look at all positve things in your life, everyone has them. health, family, friends, etc. you have to try to not let ignorant people bother you. i know, easier said than done, but, put yourself above them, let them know you are untouchable, they will not hurt you. you were made the way you are for a reason, whether it be race or sexual preference. you may not ever know the reason, but everyone affects someone else in there lifetime, someone will always remember a person in there life that made a difference. and sometimes that difference is just a little strength and self confidence that will influence someone later down the road. i hope this made sense to you and i wish you the best of luck! stay strong and keep your head held high!

I always say to myself, someone out there must have it worse, so let me make the best of what I have and work hard to make it better. Another thing that works is helping others in anyway ...your time, your talent, your money or your support. It helps to know you are needed and you can make a difference. Nothing feels better than a deep and sincere "thank you". It also helps to step back and evaluate your life. See if what you are doing will eventually make you happy. Get connected with people who love you ...call a good old friend you haven't heard from to get the old happy feeling again. Good luck.

I remind myself when I think I have it bad someone else has it worser then I do...I also tell myself to think positive and never let the negative thoughts or comments destroy what a good person I am...and if its prejudice or ignorant remarks its only because they are jealous they cant be like you...

Write down your goals and remind yourself of what it is that you want and how you're going to get it. Leave reminders all over the place - on sticky notes, et cetera, to keep you inspired. Reading the Bible has always kept me inspired. Remember to keep positive things around you, and don't let people bad-mouth your dreams or ambitions. Good luck, honey. :)
